My Philosophy
We are living at an intersection of the completely theoretical and potentially producible.
Working in a digital environment can be a limitless and creatively exhilarating experience, which is ultimately futile without physical presentation. By developing the cross section of not only design and application, but also trend and function, we find ourselves at the vertex of modern jewelry design. We have the ability to customize at every level and produce totally unique pieces that have clients clamoring for their own heirloom treasure. Every moment in our lives has been distilled to a snap shot of instant gratification, desperately comparing ourselves to one another while our singular wish is to stand out.
With over a decade of experience including bench work, CAD, and design training, I offer a full spectrum of production skills. Whether that means translating sketches or notes to a producible CAD file, or beginning at a conversation with the customer to create a design tailored to their specific needs, I am a capable addition to any jewelry design team. My strengths lie in utilizing unusual or irregular stones and incorporating personal touches with design in mind. CAD has created an incredible opportunity to produce never before considered designs that both reference classical elements and elevate the individual experience in a singular piece.
In my education, Art History specifically, the earliest artifacts covered are always the small keepsakes that hunter-gatherers were able to carry with them. While scale certainly played a huge role in the importance of these items they were not without cultural symbolism or personal meaning. Custom jewelry plays this role in modern culture where pieces are passed through generations and reworked to reflect the current trends without losing their individual significance.
